Killer speed, energetic and ferocious, Anthony Joshua’s car collection is just like his boxing prowess. From personalised supercars to his rusty XJR, AJ drives in style. Spending a neat £1million on his motors, he even bought a Range Rover Sport for his mother.
“It’s nice for her to be in a car like that,” he revealed. “She didn’t expect it and we surprised her, so it was a really good time for her.”
However, he’s not afraid to treat himself either. Here we profile some of the best cars in his collection.
Range Rover SVO – £150,000
This a motor made in AJ’s vision as the heavyweight champion actually worked with designers to create his dream vehicle.
Splashing the cash, it cost £150,000 to personalize the SVAutobiography Dynamic. It is so personal, the paint finish is even called ‘World Champion Graphite’. The door handles boast boxing glove patterns while there is custom storage for all his boxing gear after a gruelling session in the gym. His name, too, is inscribed on the tread plates – of course it is.
This was presented to him before his technical knockout victory over Wladimir Klitschko, making it a pretty good week for the Watford-born boxer. A brand new car and reigning supreme over a living legend? That’s the dream.
Jaguar XJR – £93,000
One of his favourite cars, AJ’s white Jaguar is his baby.
“When I pull up in a Jag, it’s like a watch,” he told the Guardian. “Certain watches, everyone has, but there are certain watches only a few people know about. The Jag is a car that only certain people know about. It used to be that it was a car for the established man, who’d been in the game for years and treated himself to a Jag, but now they’re crossing right the way across the board.”
While it of course makes him stand out on the roads – Joshua enjoys the mix of class with a sporty touch – he says he loves how it’s supercharged. A machine of a car, it’s perfect for a man of AJ’s stature.
Rolls Royce Phantom – £600,000
The outlay for his Jaguar and Range Rover was pretty modest compared to some sport stars, especially when you consider his fame and fortune – he has been tipped to be the first British fighter to make £1bn in the future.
However, Joshua really pushed the boat out when he reportedly purchased a luxury Rolls Royce for £600,000, according to The Sun. Though it wasn’t any Rolls Royce, oh no, it was a Phantom stretch, three feet longer than the regular version. Being bigger, being better. It’s what AJ does best.
“I never really thought the opportunity would come to be in such luxury cars – but now I’ve had the privilege of working with some great people in the car industry, I’m definitely growing as a petrolhead,” he told autoexpress.co.uk.
Mercedes v8 BiTurbo – £146,000
AJ was pictured driving around in the silver Merc during a getaway with family to Spain. Enjoying the sun in the soft top, standing tall at 6’6”, Joshua has to find a car he is comfortable in. And this soft top, that can do 0-60 in just four seconds, and boasts a top speed of 189mph, suits him perfectly.
Clearly a Merc fan, Joshua took another Mercedes (an even speedier one) for a spin around the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi back in 2017, and showed off his skills behind the wheel. This man of many motors, is a man of many talents.
