Emma Raducanu Reveals How Andy Murray’s Well Deserved Victory Inspires Her.
Wildcard entrant Andy Murray has started his Indian Wells campaign on a positive note. In the first round, he beat Japan’s Taro Daniel in their third meeting of 2022. Moreover, with this win, Murray also registered his 700th career win.
However, unlike the previous win at Doha, the win didn’t come that easy this time. The former World No. 1 had to undergo tremendous pressure, coming back to win the game after losing the first set. This phenomenall comeback inspired the rising British sensation, Emma Raducanu, who is in the third round of Indian Wells. She asserted that Murray inspired her to ‘Dig In.’
As per yesterday’s order of play, Emma’s second-round match was scheduled just after Murray’s match in Stadium 1. Speaking to a media network, Emma said that she watched Murray’s match before her warm-up. “I was actually watching pretty much the whole match before I had to warm up.
In the match, Andy Murray gave the essence of a potential form revival. A one similar to when he was at his peak. One set down, the 34-year-old made a ravishing comeback in the game, going on to win the match 1-6, 6-2, 6-4. Impressed by Murray’s performance, Raducanu went all praise for the fellow Britisher saying, “It was great to see Andy battle through a tough match. He was down but found a way to battle through.”
Over the years, Murray has been a teacher and an inspiration for a number of young and budding players. Even though he has been witnessing a low phase in his career lately, the status he has earned in the sport over the years remains unmatchable. Getting inspired from the 3-time Grand Slam winner, Raducanu confessed that she wanted to watch Murray’s match to learn from him.
“I wanted to watch him and learn from him. He kind of inspired me to dig in when it got tough today.”
