Underestimating your opponent is the biggest mistake an NFL player or team can make. Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes knows that. Even if your team might have triumphed over an opponent before, one should never count the opposition out.
The Chiefs have defeated the Steelers before in Week 16. They dominated the 36-10 game. But Mahomes doesn’t want to live in the past. He knows that Pittsburgh will have the answers. The Steelers are going to come prepared.
Patrick Mahomes in a press conference with Sports Radio 810 WHB, talked about the upcoming playoffs game. Mahomes talked about what to expect from his opponents. “They’re going to go through, and they’re going to watch the game plan and try to take away that stuff that we had success with the first time.” Said Mahomes.
“I mean, we had a great game that day where we execute at a very high level. But this is a good defense. I mean, they’re going to come with the answer.” He knows that the Steelers will learn from the defeat. They will read the game plan of KC and give them a tough fight.
Patrick Mahomes also stated that the Steelers game will be a battle from start to finish. “They have great coaches that have coached for a long time and had a ton of success,” Mahomes adds,
“so we know it’s not going to be easy. It’s going to be a battle for us each and every play.” The Chiefs know that if they don’t give it their all, they will be watching the rest of the postseason from their homes.
Patrick Mahomes talked about the Chiefs’ mindset, “We’ll come in with the mindset knowing that if we don’t play our best football, we’ll be at home the next week.” KC is not underestimating their opponents. The wild card game will be very interesting to watch. Don’t you think?
