Lewis Hamilton Reacts to His New Title as a KNIGHT
Sir Lewis Hamilton! The 7-time world champion received his knighthood today at Windsor Castle. The Prince of Wales gave the knighthood to the Mercedes driver. He is only the fourth driver in history after Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jackie Stewart, and Sir Jack Brabham of Formula One to do so.
As reported by ExpressUK, after he won his 7th world championship last year, it was announced Hamilton would be given the knighthood. But he officially received the title three days after he relinquished his world championship.
Previously, when asked about his views about the knighthood, Lewis Hamilton always stated that it would be an honor for him. He also mentioned that he is a big fan of the royal family.
“I would never, ever turn down the Royal family. I grew up in the UK and am a massive fan of them. It is very surreal when you grew up watching the news like everyone else, hearing your name in the House of Lords or the House of Commons or in Parliament.” said Hamilton.

“As far as I am aware, there are a lot of talks and I have not really thought a lot about it, but it would be an incredible honor. There is no greater honor that your country recognizing you and honoring you with such an award.” said the 7-time world champion.
It would be surreal for F1 fans to hear his title after he wins the next time in the sport; Hamilton truly deserves the title for his achievements in the sport.
